Hi everyone, and welcome back to Closet Confidential! I'm dedicating my last post to all things Selfie Leslie, including information about the brand and what to look for if you ever plan on buying from the site!
What is Selfie Leslie?
Selfie Leslie was founded in Australia and arrived in Los Angeles, California in 2016. They have a "fashion philosophy," where they make it a point to be on top of the latest trends, so they can provide shoppers with the best and newest items on the market. The brand specializes in women's clothing only, but they have a wide variety of dresses, tops, bottoms, and accessories as well.
The brand is fairly new, but has gained a good reputation in the market for meeting customer's needs and providing ample support for them. An interesting thing about Selfie Leslie is that they're very candid about where they receive materials and products from, and they're happy to share them with customers at all time. In fact, they even support the International Labor Organization and insist on the ethical sourcing of fabric. They also advocate fiercely against animal cruelty/testing and do not engage in slave/child/forced labor. Their outspoken nature on several moral issues is another admirable aspect that ropes in a lot of loyal customers.
Is Selfie Leslie Legit?
Although Selfie Leslie is a fairly new company and does not have too many years of experience in the market, the company's ability to deliver to customers regardless leads me to say that yes, the company is legit.
I have personally bought from the brand, and I'm delighted to say that my experience was nothing but smooth. With fast shipping and great customer service response times, it's quite easy to find dresses and other pieces that are perfect for any occasion that you may have. Now, I will be taking you through specific elements of the brand including their affordability, styles available, and pricing.
Affordability, Sizing, and Quality:
Now, the company does promote sustainability and proper, ethical procedures, but this does result in steeper prices all around. The clothing at Selfie Leslie is a bit on the pricier side, as a single dress or top could end up costing a hefty $65-$100 or so. Normally, I'd recommend checking the sale section of any brand first, however, with Selfie Leslie, the sale section prices only dip slightly below $40 at the least.
While the clothing is a little more on the pricier side, you could say it is for good reason. The quality of the clothing is quite great, and depending on the occasion, a dress or other clothing item will last you a long time, without the need for special care. I have bought from Selfie Leslie for school dances, wedding/reception events, and most recently, for graduation. Every order I have placed with Selfie Leslie has come in perfect condition, and I've never found the need to turn to another place to look for a dress!

As for the brand's sizing, the only thing I'd watch out for is that Selfie Leslie uses Australian sizing, and while they provide a chart translating the sizing to U.S. sizes, they're not always accurate. Often, their sizing runs big, regardless of what the U.S. size translation tells you, so I'd recommend sizing down on all your items. But, even if you do end up getting the wrong size, Selfie Leslie is great at offering exchanges and returns!
My advice would be to read reviews that have pictures attached from previous buyers, as this will give you the most accurate idea of what a certain item looks like. This will minimize any buyer's remorse that might occur in the future.
Is it Really the Best Online Boutique Out There?
In my experience as a shopper, I've purchased from numerous online boutiques, including Princess Polly, Hello Molly, Lucy in the Sky, Oh Polly, and numerous others. However, I'd have to say that my favorite experience has been with Selfie Leslie. Their range of selection is just too hard to beat at any of these other companies, and their advertising makes it appealing to buy from the company as well. Not only this, but their packaging is a big bonus as well. Each item comes in a separate, re-sealable bag that allows you to store your dresses with ease if necessary. Their customer service is also extremely easy to get ahold of, with fast response times, so I'd say you get the most bang for your buck at Selfie Leslie.
The only time I'd recommend choosing a different online boutique is if you need an item for cheap, and fast. Because Selfie Leslie offers such high quality pieces for a solid price as well, I reserve the company for important purchases like a Homecoming or graduation dress. However, if you're looking for a cute sweater or summer dress to wear casually, I wouldn't recommend spending a lot of money, so I'd tell you to go somewhere else.
Final Review:
Overall, I would give this company a 9/10, which is the highest I've ever given a company! The only noticeable con about this company is its pricing, however, if you're willing to spend the money to get a long-lasting, good quality dress, it can be worth it. Their items are suitable for almost any occasion and sizing is not a huge issue for the company. I always recommend buyers to shop at sustainable places with ethical practices such as Selfie Leslie's, so I'd give this company two thumbs-ups!
